Description:
Shimla is the capital and largest city of Himachal Pradesh. One can see the beautiful examples of Tudorbethan and neo-Gothic architectures established in colonial era and many churches and temples as well. The amazing destination lies in the south-western ranges of Himalayas. It is 2,206 meters (7,238 ft.) above the sea level.
The architecture of buildings was being very old. One will be surprised to see the ridge and to know that there’s a water tank underneath that was built without using cement. Yes, the largest water reservoir of Shimla, with a capacity of 1000000 gallons of water, was built in 1880 using lime mortar. Lakkar Bazaar (Wood Market) is known for the souvenirs and crafts made of wood. The South Asia’s natural ice skating ring is only in Shimla. The Shimla university is awarded as the best university in Hills by ASSOCHAM India.
Transportation:
The distance from the Kalka is 88 km (55 miles) and takes around 2.5 hours, from Chandigarh is 116 km (72 miles) and takes around 3.15 hours, from Manali is 247 km (154 miles), and from Delhi is 350 km (219 miles) and both takes around 7 hours to reach. The district is accessible by roads, rails, and by flights.
