Description:
Kangra is the most crowded district and is home for the Himalayan Pyramids or Masrur Temples. There are two forts in the region – Kangra Fort, 20 km from Dharamshala and other Tira Sujanpur, 120 km from Dharamshala. Kangra fort was built by the royal Rajput family the Katoch dynasty. The Tira Sujanpur was built by Ghamand Chand. The administrative headquarters were initially in Kangra, later moved to Dharamshala. Kangra was made the district in 1846 of British India.
Kangra is the number one district with highest population of Himachal Pradesh. The folk dance of the district is Jhamakda. The native language is Kangri.
Transportation
Kangra is accessible throughout the year. It’s little difficult to reach by flight as there are no regular flights available. Gaggal Airport is the nearest one. There is no rail station as well. The nearest one is Amb Andaura. It’s easy to reach the region via road. The public transportation is easily available and own four-wheeler or taxi is the best option.
