Description:
Manali is the destination that every person loves to visit and it’s the year-round magnet spot. Its elevation is 2050m (6398 ft) and located on the Beas river. It’s a magical destination for Indian’s in winter as covered with snow completely and in summers as well as the cool air gives a pleasant feel. Trips to Ladakh via Lahaul and Spiti is organized from here. the center of attraction is the Rohtang pass.
The name of Manali is derived from the “Manu-Alaya”, the Sanatan Hindu lawgiver Manu. It is said that the sage Manu recreated human life when the world submerged. Apple trees were introduced by the Britisher here and set up an orchard in Patlikuhl. For the inhabitants, the apple, plum, and pear become the main source of income.

Transportation:
The region is accessible throughout the year. The nearest airport is the Bhuntar also known as Kullu-Manali airport. The distance from an airport to south Manali is approx. 50 km and from south Kullu is 10 km. There are regular flights from Delhi. HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) provides 12 non-ac buses and 5 Volvo and AC buses and 2 Volvos are offered by the HPTDC (Himachal Tourism Development Corporation). Rail lines are not available directly to Manali till now. The nearest station Una is 250 km away, the next is Kiratpur Sahib which is 268 km, then Kalka is 275 km, next is Chandigarh which is 310 km and last is the Pathankot which is 325 km.
