Ladakh is the beauty of the Himalayas and extends from Karakoram range to Siachen Glacier. The region is inhabited by the Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. The region sparsely populated and notable for its culture and beauty of mountains. History closely relates to Tibet. Leh followed by Kargil is the largest town of the region. The administrative division is separate from the Kashmir division. There are rotational divisions between Kargil and Leh.
Historically, the regions comprised Baltistan valleys (now mostly in Pakistan), entire upper Indus Valley, Zanskar, Lahaul and Spiti, Ngari, Aksai Chin, Nubra Valley, Khardong La. Aksai Chin is the disputed point between the India and China.

The destination is reachable by road, rail, and flights. The Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport has regular flights to and from Delhi, weekly to Srinagar and twice in a week to Jammu. The Leh-Manali Highway connects Leh with Manali from where the trips mostly begin. The public transportation is provided by Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) between Srinagar and Leh.
