Sirmaur was founded in 1616 and once was an independent kingdom of India. Now, it’s the district of Himachal Pradesh. As its main city was Nahan, so it was also addressed as Nahan. It was ruled by the Rajput chiefs. Their title was first “Raja” later Britisher gave “Maharaja”. They were warriors and maintained their independence before becoming a protectorate of British India. The Giri river is the biggest in the district and joins Yamuna river near Paonta Sahib.
The place is approachable throughout the year but there are no direct rail lines available. The nearest station is Barog which 42 km away, Paonta Sahib is 65 km. There are no direct flights as well. The nearest airports are Chandigarh and Dehra Dun. The region is accessible easily by road. Public transportation is easily available from Delhi and Chandigarh.
